We went to this practice because my daughter's canine tooth was not coming in properly and her teeth were also crooked. Dr. Ewen gave us detailed advice and it was really great that we were able to bring in the pediatric dentist Dr. Wechsler to discuss the situation with the canine tooth. The next appointments can now be combined.

If a milk tooth falls out, it is first of all crucial to clarify the cause - whether it is a fall, an accident or simply a loose tooth due to the child's age! If the tooth loss is due to an accident, we strongly recommend that you visit our children's dental practice heyzahn immediately with your child. This way we can get a precise picture of the situation and take the necessary steps. In the case of a natural loss of a loose tooth, however, there is no need for you to take any action. The tooth is allowed to fall out on its own.
Milk teeth fulfill various important functions in the mouth. They play a crucial role in food intake, speech development and contribute significantly to the healthy development of the teeth. Since milk teeth are in the mouth until around the age of 13-14 and often only start to wobble late, it is very important to keep them healthy and take good care of them in order to avoid pain.
We recommend the first visit as soon as the first milk tooth comes through. It is especially important to us to talk to you as parents in detail about topics such as nutrition, proper dental care, the use of fluoride or how to deal with pacifiers or thumb sucking and bottles. Our goal is to support you as best as possible from the start in order to maintain your child's dental health and thus improve the prospect of healthy milk teeth.
Through regular check-ups, we can detect tooth decay early and treat it in a relaxed manner through timely intervention. It is also beneficial for your child to get used to visiting the dentist early on and to be gently introduced to dental treatments. This way, fears are avoided right from the start!
The treatment of children differs considerably from that of adults, both in terms of general and dental care. A visit to the children's dentist should be just as natural as a visit to the pediatrician. Dental treatment methods must therefore be individually tailored to the specific needs of each child. To ensure that children have a positive experience during treatment, feel comfortable and have fond memories of their visit to the dentist, sensitive handling is required, which often requires a high degree of psychological skill. In addition, the practice equipment plays a crucial role and should meet the needs of the children.
Our team is specially trained to treat children and the most important thing for us is to create a child-friendly treatment atmosphere. With patience and empathy, we strive to build trust and reduce any existing fears or tension. This lays the foundation for a carefree relationship with dental treatment in the future. In our modern and child-friendly practice, patients can play in the waiting room, distract themselves with the TV screens in the room and, most importantly, not feel like they are in a dentist's office! They are distracted, fear cannot arise in the first place and the kids are totally relaxed too!
As parents, we often ask ourselves at what age we should start brushing our children's teeth and how best to do this. This question is not easy to answer: brushing a small baby's teeth can be challenging. This is often associated with crying and screaming. However, there are some care tips and specific techniques that can make this task easier. We therefore recommend that you visit us at the heyzahn pediatric dentistry practice so that we can personally instruct you on how to properly care for your child's first teeth.
Babies usually start teething between the sixth and eighth months of life. The two central incisors in the lower jaw usually appear first, followed by the upper incisors and the lateral teeth. The first molars break through between the 12th and 16th month, and by around two and a half years the milk teeth are complete with a total of 20 teeth.
Babies teethe in very different and individual ways. Parents don't need to worry if it takes a little longer for their child - or if the first tooth comes through earlier. Most children have at least one tooth by their first birthday.
Teething rarely goes unnoticed! Common accompanying symptoms of teething are restless sleep or a slightly elevated temperature of up to 38 degrees. The infant often shows signs of discomfort by whining, screaming or crying more, as teething is often accompanied by pain. The gums at the eruption site can be red and swollen, accompanied by red cheeks and increased salivation. The cheeks are warm to hot, as there is strong blood flow.
Babies often drool more and put everything, especially their fingers or their entire hand, in their mouths. Due to the constant production of saliva, the mouth area and chin remain moist and this can lead to slight skin irritation or scabs, particularly in cold weather.
Counter pressure and cooling can provide relief for your child. Offer them something to chew on, preferably a chilled teething ring. The coolness has a soothing effect on swollen and inflamed gums. Place the teething ring in the refrigerator, but not in the freezer, to avoid injuring the gums. A damp, cold washcloth can have a similar cooling effect as a chewing aid and replacement for the teething ring.
To massage the gums, you can apply some chamomile tea and massage it gently with your finger to soothe and reduce the pain. Make sure your baby drinks enough or breastfeed him/her more often.
It is important to provide reassurance and comfort during teething. Be there for your child because they need your attention. Speak soothingly, stroke your baby and pick them up when they cry. For further tips on which ointments or gels you could use, come to our heyzahn children's dental practice!

As an orthodontist, Dr. Yvonne Ewen is a specialized dentist who focuses on the diagnosis, prevention and correction of tooth and jaw misalignments in children, adolescents and adults.
The main task is to identify problems with the positioning of the jaw and teeth and to create treatment plans to give you a bright smile.
For the team at the heyzahn orthodontic practice, it is important to achieve improved dental function, aesthetics and jaw health in both young and older patients.
We recommend that your child visits our heyzahn orthodontics practice for an initial check-up from the age of 7 in order to identify and treat any potential problems at an early stage.
In some cases, however, it may not be necessary to make an appointment with our orthodontist Dr. Ewen until adolescence. Reasons for this include tooth or jaw misalignment, problems with chewing or speaking, or aesthetic concerns.
We would be happy to advise you on your individual situation and present the best treatment options in detail.
No referral is necessary to visit an orthodontist. If you have any problems with your jaw or teeth, you can always contact us directly.
In some cases, however, it happens that the pediatric dentist first discovers a jaw or tooth misalignment and then issues a referral to heyzahn KFO Munich.
During your first visit to our heyzahn orthodontics practice, after a personal introductory phase, we start with the medical history, where you inform us about any previous illnesses, medications or allergies.
Our orthodontist Dr. Ewen will now examine your teeth, jaw and bite thoroughly. We usually also take X-rays and/or 3D scans of your teeth to make an accurate diagnosis.
After the examination, we will discuss the diagnosis with you and explain what type of malocclusion is present and whether braces, aligners, splints or other aids are recommended. In addition to the expected course of treatment and a treatment plan, we will of course also discuss all of your questions, including any costs involved.
Finally, we will agree on an appointment for the start of treatment or for further examinations, for example if we need an orthodontic measurement. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with us at all times and are well informed about the upcoming treatment!
No, orthodontic treatment is not just for children. Treatment at heyzahn orthodontics can be an option at any age. While we start and complete many treatments in childhood, there are also adults who choose orthodontic treatment.
However, treating adults can take longer, be more complex and require additional measures to achieve the desired result. It is best to contact our orthodontist Dr. Yvonne Ewen early on to receive an individual assessment and advice.
