Intraoral scanner: From digital scanning to production
What is an intraoral scanner?
The intraoral scanner enables us to digitally capture our teeth without having to use sticky impression material. It creates a digital impression of the teeth and jaw, which is then transferred to a computer program. The scanner takes several individual measurements from different angles and puts them together to create a complete model set. It creates over 5,000 photos per second. The scanning process is completely painless and uncomplicated.
By using the scanner, we easily create a virtual 3D model of your teeth, which serves as the basis for your individual treatment planning.
When do we use the intraoral scanner?
In our orthodontic practice we use a state-of-the-art device called "iTero", a latest generation intraoral scanner. This scanner is used in many areas of orthodontics, for example to correct misaligned teeth in order to enable a precise assessment of the oral cavity. It is particularly helpful to create a 3D model for complex treatments.
However, the intraoral scanner plays a particularly important role in Spark Aligner therapy. With the help of the digital 3D model, we can have the aligners you need manufactured for you with extreme precision. Another positive aspect is that the delivery time is shortened: there is no need to send a physical impression by post. In addition, if necessary, we can have a new model for new aligners made quickly and easily.
